Ben’s background in commercial finance and executive leadership adds a strategic dimension to South Street Mortgage. With nearly four years of residential mortgage experience complementing his commercial foundation, Ben contributes a unique blend of financial acumen and risk management insight.

Together, they established South Street Mortgage as a boutique brokerage focused on combining white-glove service with market expertise and broad lender access. As an independent brokerage, we are not tied to any single lender—we shop each loan across a diverse network to find the best fit for every client.

Austin Shumaker brings a dynamic and entrepreneurial spirit to South Street Mortgage, backed by a diverse background that spans oil & gas operations, high-growth mortgage lending, and wine and spirits distribution.

After beginning his career in the energy sector, Austin transitioned into the mortgage industry, where he quickly distinguished himself as a leader. As the CEO behind a mortgage firm recognized on the Inc. 5000 list of fastest-growing private companies in the U.S., Austin built a reputation for scaling operations, streamlining client experiences, and delivering results with integrity and efficiency.

In addition to co-founding South Street Mortgage, Austin is the owner of a wine & spirits distribution company, a passion and performance-driven pursuit that brings small, family owned, producers to the Louisiana market. His love for wine and travel has taken him and his family to world-renowned wine regions, enriching both his personal and professional life.

At South Street Mortgage, Austin combines his operational expertise, entrepreneurial drive, and client-first mindset to create a white-glove, concierge-style mortgage experience—helping clients navigate home financing with clarity, confidence, and ease.

BEN LEBLANC

Ben LeBlanc brings over a decade of leadership experience in financial services, strategic operations, and business development. Known for his integrity and hands-on leadership style, Ben is driven by a passion for creating transparent, client-centered mortgage solutions.

Originally from Louisiana, Ben relocated to Colorado in 2016 to join Genesis Capital Ventures, LLC, a financial startup. In just two years, he advanced from an entry-level role to CEO, holding positions including Operations Manager, VP of Operations, CFO, and COO.

Ben holds an MBA from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and a bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University. While at LSU, he also completed an internship with Harvard University’s Athletic Department, further honing his skills in organizational efficiency and leadership.

At South Street Mortgage, Ben applies his experience to build a modern, agile lending platform focused on long-term client relationships and operational excellence. From streamlining internal processes to designing transparent loan solutions, he is committed to ensuring that everyone receives a personalized, seamless experience grounded in trust and performance.
